Your right path starts here.

I am interested in you. How you make your choices, where you get stuck, what problems keep coming up for you again and again.

It can be difficult to figure out what we really care about and then make sure we are living in a way that reflects that every day.

It is intimidating to imagine speaking up about what is really true for ourselves, especially to people who might not want to hear it.

And it is definitely an on-going process to fully accept where we are in order to start heading to where we want to be.

I love to think and talk and write about these issues. The community here is where we can all help each other create and enjoy a meaningful life.

As my Grandma Lester used to say, and this blog is no exception, I’m here to help you, “Get out of your own way!”

“I refer more clients to Tonya Lester than to any other professional in my network.” – Dr. John Broughton, Associate Professor of Psychology and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University.

My name is Tonya Lester and I am a psychotherapist in Brooklyn, NY (Work with Me).

“It has been my distinct pleasure to have worked together with Tonya Lester.  She is an unusually gifted psychotherapist as well as sincere, humorous, quick-witted, and compassionate.  Her current and future patients are indeed fortunate to have found her.”  C.E. Robins, STD, PhD

I have been a student of human behavior my entire life. First through a love of acting, always through a passion for studying and reading and finally through working with hundreds of clients as they make their way through difficult and wonderful times.

My mission is to help people create space in their lives to figure out who they are, discover who they want to be, and then map put how to get there.  These changes can happen in spite of worry, sadness, fear, insecurity or grief.

I believe in starting where you are, in taking baby steps and in the power of focusing all of your attention on what you can do NOW, as opposed to fixating on what is currently out of reach. Solutions exist. Every problem is better when faced head on.
